ALTA acts as project manager for undertakings of all sizes, from major civil engineering projects like bridges, viaducts, the colossal LG-2 spillway and that of LA-2 to industrial, commercial, institutional and residential construction. Here is an overview.

In the commercial sector, ALTA constructed the Chantecler Appartements-Hôtel in Sainte-Adèle, the Miranda Technologies Corporate Headquarters in Montreal, the Innovative Fibers buildings in Gatineau among many. ALTA also participated in major refitting works at the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec in Montreal.

ALTA is also very active in the industrial sector. Examples include the construction of a refrigerated warehouse for Conestoga Cold Storage, and as part of a consortium, building the largest Canadian Tire Distribution Centre in the country – 1.5 million square feet – in the ALTA Industrial Park at Coteau-du-Lac.

ALTA has also built several plants for clients like Sorevco, a galvanization sheet metal company and Montcorr Packaging, a manufacturer of corrugated cardboard and a railcar repair centre for GATX Rail.

Over the course of the years, ALTA has collaborated on many large-scale projects with major corporations like Rolls-Royce Canada, Alcan, Aluminerie de Bécancour, Fiberglass Canada and Albright and Wilson Americas (Les Industries Erco).

ALTA’s projects in the institutional sector include: the Hôpital chinois de Montréal; the Centre hospitalier de Gatineau, Phases I and II; expansion of the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire, as part of a consortium; the Teaching Pavilion of the Faculty of Medicine and expansion of the Gérald Lasalle Pavilion at the University of Sherbrooke; three wings of the Centre hospitalier du Centre-de-La-Mauricie in Shawinigan-Sud; the dispensary of Waskaganish, near James Bay.

Residential projects include:

Le Claremont, luxury condo units in the heart of Montreal; Les Éclusiers lofts on the Lachine Canal in Montreal; and Le Quai des Éclusiers, a large complex of 450 condo-loft units alongside the Lachine Canal, a partnership project. In addition, ALTA has built Terrasses du Lac, Phases I and II in Brossard; Havre Saint-Louis, Phases I, II and III in Dorval; and the residential project Les Faîtières, Phases I, II and III in Piedmont in the Laurentians.

civil engineering

ALTA’s expertise in civil engineering has been proven in a wide range of projects, including: a lock for the St. Lawrence Seaway; a Metro station for the Montreal Transit Commission (STM); various engineering works for Hydro-Québec and the James Bay Energy Commission (SEBJ); and the construction and repair of viaducts, bridges and expressways for the Quebec Transport Ministry. For certain projects, ALTA also installs temporary bridges and pull-off lanes in preparation for demolition and reconstruction work.
